Black Boys Code is expanding to Chicago
We are excited to bring our mission to a city rich with culture, creativity, and community.
Starting this September 13th, Black boys in Chicago ages 8–17 will have access to free, hands-on tech workshops designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and open doors to future careers in technology.
We believe that every child should have the chance to explore, create, and lead in the digital world, regardless of their zip code or background.
What We Do
Black Boys Code introduces youth to the world of computer science through engaging, beginner-friendly programming that includes:
Coding and programming basics
Game design and app development
Robotics and AI concepts
Problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills
Our programs are designed to be fun, accessible, and empowering—helping boys see themselves as future tech creators, not just consumers.
Why Chicago
Chicago has one of the fastest-growing tech sectors in the country, but Black youth are still underrepresented in STEM education and careers. We’re here to help change that.
With support from local communities, educators, and tech professionals, Black Boys Code will give more kids the tools they need to thrive in school, work, and life.
How You Can Get Involved
Help us lead workshops, mentor students, or support behind the scenes. No coding experience required—we’ll train you.
Have a son, nephew, or student who might be interested? Programs are open to Black boys ages 8–17, and they’re completely free to attend.
