Black Boys Code is an organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering Black youth to explore the limitless possibilities of artificial intelligence and STEM. Through mentorship, industry exposure, and hands-on technical training, we aim to develop the next generation of innovators and creators leading in the age of AI.

At Black Boys Code, we understand that true empowerment goes beyond technical education. It is about representation, belonging, and opportunity. Every program we deliver is led by Black STEM professionals and students who provide mentorship and serve as role models that reflect the identities and experiences of our participants. For many, this is the first time they have encountered educators who look like them, transforming how they see themselves and their potential.

We believe education is the key to unlocking the potential of Black youth, enabling them to become future leaders and powerful voices of change. Our curriculum equips students with cutting-edge skills in artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine learning, preparing them not just to succeed but to shape the future of the innovation economy. By fostering environments where Black youth feel seen, heard, and empowered, we prepare the next generation to thrive and lead in the AI age.

WHY WE MATTER

At Black Boys Code, our significance is clear. There’s an undeniable diversity gap in the computer sciences and related fields, and we’re here to bridge that divide. Through our workshops, we introduce Black boys to Black male industry role models who serve as living proof that success isn’t just a lofty dream; it’s a tangible and attainable reality in the world of computer science and technology. We dismantle barriers and showcase that success in these fields is not the exception, but the norm.
  • Only 6.1% of teachers in the U.S. are Black, leaving many Black
students without role models who reflect their experiences. Our programs ensure Black youth learn from Black STEM
professionals, increasing exposure to relatable mentors.
  • Black students with at least two Black teachers are 32% more likely to graduate high school and enroll in college. We provide consistent mentorship by connecting students with Black educators and industry leaders.
  • Black male enrollment is declining across higher education— including at HBCUs, where they now make up less than a third of students. Our programs create early exposure to STEM careers, increasing post-secondary pathways.
  • By teaching cutting-edge tech skills in an environment led by Black professionals, we are empowering the next generationto thrive in the innovation economy

OUR IMPACT

Through our exposure workshops, hackathons, after-school programs, and summer tech camps, we’ve reached thousands of boys in the Black community and sparked their interest and aptitude for technology. We’re shaping them to become the leaders of tomorrow, instilling them with the confidence to make a lasting impact in the ever-changing world of technology.
