Celebrating 9 Years of Empowering Black Youth

Today, we celebrate a wonderful milestone—9 years of Black Boys Code! Since our founding in Vancouver in 2015, we have grown into the largest organization in Canada dedicated to empowering Black youth through digital literacy and technology.

Our journey has been transformative, marked by significant achievements and expansions:

  • 2015: Black Boys Code was established in Vancouver, igniting our mission to introduce Black boys to the world of coding and digital literacy.
  • 2018: We proudly launched our first US chapter in Atlanta, GA, extending our impact to the United States.
  • 2022: We expanded our vision with the introduction of Black Kids Code (Girls), aiming to inspire and guide Black girls into technology careers. Our Reskilling in Tech Program also began, equipping young adults ages 18-29 with the skills needed to thrive in tech roles.
  • 2022: Our Chicago Summer Camp laid the foundation for a future chapter in Illinois, further extending our reach.
  • 2024: We launched our Los Angeles Chapter, marking another significant step in our US expansion.

As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our deepest gratitude to our supporters, partners, and the incredible youth who drive our mission. Your passion and commitment make our work possible and inspire us to reach new heights.

Here’s to the next chapter of innovation, growth, and empowerment. Together, we are shaping the future of technology and digital literacy for Black youth across North America.

Thank you for being a part of this journey!

With gratitude,

The Black Boys Code Team
